Why another one

Beautiful disk maps are blind. Developer cleaners are ugly lists.

The pretty analysers show you a folder named DerivedData and leave you to Google it. The developer cleaners know exactly what it is, then present it as a table of checkboxes you have to take on faith.

DevCruft is the missing half of each: a map you can read at a glance that already knows what every folder on it is for.

What it does

Six things that matter

A map, not a checklist

Every other developer cleaner hands you a list of checkboxes and hopes you trust it. DevCruft draws your whole disk to scale, so the 62 GB folder is literally the biggest thing on screen. You see the problem before you read a word.

It knows what DerivedData is

A generic disk analyser shows you a folder called DerivedData and shrugs. DevCruft labels it, tells you which projects it belongs to, when each was last built, and whether deleting it costs you anything (it does not — Xcode rebuilds it).

Safe by construction

Nothing is deleted without a named preview. Every path is classed regenerable, replaceable or irreplaceable, and DevCruft will not offer to remove anything in the third class. Source code and uncommitted work are never touched.

Fast on a full disk

A concurrent scanner walking APFS metadata, not a shell-out to du. First full scan of a 2 TB drive finishes in seconds, and later scans are incremental.

Finds every node_modules

Not just the ones in ~/Projects. DevCruft finds all of them across every volume, ranks them by size and last-opened date, and shows you the forty from 2023 you will never open again.

Offline, always

No account, no sign-in, no phone-home. Your licence is a signed file verified on-device, so DevCruft keeps working if this website disappears tomorrow.
